COVID-19 has impacted the lives of many in and around Indianapolis. As the situation continues to evolve, Hessler Law, PC wants to reassure our clients and the community that we are taking this situation seriously, and putting safety measures in place that prioritize the health and well-being of our clients and staff. We also want to ensure you get the answers and consummate legal guidance you expect.

As a firm, we are carefully monitoring and adhering to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Indiana State Department of Health, other government agency guidance, and staying abreast of any changes or updates.

Attorney Sean Hessler and our staff have been advised on the practical measures to help stem the tide of COVID-19, including regular hand washing, the use of hand sanitizer, frequently disinfecting commonly touched areas, and social distancing whenever possible. This involves in person meetings following the CDC distance requirements, using video and phone conferences, and communicating via phone, e-mail, Facetime, Skype, and our Mycase interface.

If you are an existing client or have a legal question in light of the COVID 19 pandemic, please call (317) 886-8800 or contact us online. We are available and will be in touch as soon as possible.

We’re Available to You & Working

Our attorneys and staff are currently working to address your needs and questions.

We are currently still available for in person meetings but are encouraging clients to observe the Center for Disease Control recommendations. We have implemented social distancing at the office and encourage clients to communicate by phone, electronically via email our MyCase interface, or vi Skype or Facetime.

All clients receive a welcome email with a direct link to the portal that accesses their case. If they have not used MyCase we can resend the Welcome link.

We don’t want clients worrying about attorney fees if they have a concern related to COVID -19. As a result, we will waive hourly fees related to Covid-19. In addition, many of our clients pay a flat fee which includes these types of communications as part of their representation.

We have access to all pending cases and actively working to resolve them favorably. For criminal defense and Child in Need of Services cases we are still in contact with prosecutors and state agencies, and diligently working to advance our clients’ interests, reschedule hearings, and staying on top of deadlines.

We Will Keep You Informed

Attorney Hessler is closely monitoring all client deadlines, court closures, and will continue to keep you updated.

If the situation continues to progress, we will explore all available options to provide you with the best possible representation. This may include using video depositions and testimony, e-document filing, and other tools should the need arise.

Indiana Court Closures & Suspended Services

Most Indiana courts are closed according to the Indiana Supreme Court’s Emergency Order. In Indianapolis, Marion County has continued all out of custody, non- emergency court appearances through April 3, 2020.

You may read the entire judicial order here or contact your local court for more details on specific county operations. If you have legal proceedings scheduled in Indianapolis or a surrounding county, reach out to attorney Hessler to discuss how the closure affects you.

Pending Cases & Those in Custody

If you are involved in an active criminal case, you should carefully monitor the court website and call to find out what is expected of you. Do not miss any hearings or other court-mandated requirements without confirmation from your lawyer.

You may also check the status of your case at mycase.in.gov.

The court closures are having the most impact on incarcerated clients awaiting trial who cannot afford bail. Also impacted are clients serving county sentences that will conclude during the pandemic. We know how serious your case is and will work to ensure these unprecedented events do not unfairly impact your legal issue.

You Can Always Reach Us

We take your rights very seriously. Your case and the dedicated service Hessler Law provides will not be interrupted despite this uniquely challenging time.

We are meeting with clients as needed over the phone and taking consultations for those seeking our services once everything is running normally.

Our lawyers and staff are available at (317) 886-8800.
