Recently, an Indiana man found himself facing several felony charges, including:

  • Level 5 corrupt business influence
  • Three counts of Level 6 theft
  • Four counts of Level 6 forgery
  • Four counts of Level 6 fraud

The young man and his family were taking part in a lottery bidder scheme; essentially, they milked someone out of about $100,000 in legal fees in order to receive a lottery payout. Altogether, these charges added up to a possible prison sentence of over 30 years, so this man knew he needed the help of an experienced Indiana fraud lawyer.

Attorney Sean Hessler conducted an investigation that revealed the state would prevail on some of his client’s charges, but not all of them. Through negotiating on his client’s behalf, criminal attorney Hessler was able to obtain a plea deal in which his client was convicted of only two felonies: one count of fraud, and one count of theft. As a result, the client avoided time in prison and instead completed three years of probation.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
