Recently, a 29-year-old nurse was charged with a Level 6 felony for obtaining a controlled substance by fraud. This case originally started when the hospital that she worked at conducted an internal investigation. During this, she admitted to taking narcotics from a dispenser and not discarding the overdraw.

To keep her license, she entered into a nursing rehabilitation program. Meanwhile, the subsequent criminal case was filed a couple of months later. With defense attorney Sean Hessler advocating for her, he presented a sentencing packet showing that her individual progress was beyond the requirements of any court-imposed diversion. As a result, upon completion of her nursing rehabilitation program, her criminal case will be dismissed.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
