When a 20-year-old male college student was pulled over by the police for a routine traffic stop, they ultimately found marijuana and prescription amphetamines that he was reportedly using as a study aide. As a result, the young man suddenly found himself charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession and felony possession of a narcotic. These are serious drug offenses in Indiana and with his whole life ahead of him, he wanted to protect his record from the negative impact of a felony drug conviction.

After consulting with Hessler Law, PC, attorney Sean Hessler used his experience with how drug cases are approached in Indiana to advise his client to seek treatment. This advice led him to a private rehab program and attorney Hessler used his initiative and desire for help to negotiate with the prosecution, where he secured his admission into a diversion program. This option is very rare for felony level drug cases and once the requirements are met, the charges against him would be dismissed. Due to his client’s level-headed decision to speak with a knowledgeable legal professional and attorney Hessler’s ability, he was able to achieve a positive result in an otherwise grim situation.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
