With considerable juvenile defense experience, attorney Hessler represented a 16-year-old accused of recording a sexual encounter with another minor and sharing it. This led to felony child exploitation charges and could have ended with him being held in juvenile detention and mandatory sex offender registration despite the young man’s age.
We evaluated the evidence and there was some dispute regarding who was actually the person in the video. By pointing out the weaknesses in the case and submitting our client to a mental health evaluation, we resolved the case with an informal adjustment. As a result, the juvenile saw no long-term consequences and could move on with his life.
